How often does the windmill for my W155 record data?

The windmill records the wind speed and transmits this data through a radio frequency signal to base station every 31 seconds if the speed >3.6m/s but less frequently if the speed <3.6m/s.

How often does the rain gauge for my W155 record data?

The transmission cycle of the rain gauge is 37s if the movement of bucket  > 1 tip or less frequently if the bucket is not changing.

Why does the weather symbols in the weather forecast flash on my W155?

The weather Station offers a weather forecast for the next 12-24 hours predicted on the air pressure changes in the atmosphere. The weather forecast predicted on the pressure changes in the atmosphere are 70-75% accurate. This calculation can end up with a prediction on both partly cloudy and storm, which means that the weather station will flash between these two icons.

What indicates the flashing pillars at the top left of my W155 display?

This is a historic air pressure graphics for the past 6 hours.

The air pressure can be displayed in inHg, hpa or mb.

What indicates the pillars at the bottom right of my W155 display?

This is a historical graph of rainfall for the past 7 days.

My W155 writes LL.l in heat index and / or dew point, why?

This means that the value of the heat index is too small and unimportant.

This means that the value of the dew point is below 0 degrees.

My rain gauge for W155 shows 0.0 or - - in the display, why?

Make sure the batteries are new and installed correctly.

Batteries first in the monitor and then in the rain gauge.

Be aware of interference from TV, Mobile phones, other weather stations etc, because it can weaken the signal between the monitor and the rain gauge.

Make sure the rain gauge gives a low clicking sound, when tilting the rocking mechanism up and down. Otherwise it is defect.

Make sure the distance between the monitor and the rain gauge is not too large and no major obstacles such as trees or thick walls are in the way. Shortening the distance can help.

If that does not help take the rain gauge inside to the monitor. Remove all batteries from the rain gauge and the display. Wait 10 minutes before re-installing the batteries. Deactivate the radiocontrolled clock. When the there is connection to the rain gauge, please try to tilt the rocking mechanishm slowly by tilting back and forth with an interval of one second. If it counts please locate the rain gauge outside again. If not please continue this procedure several times.

My rain gauge for W155 shows too little/too much rainfall, why?

The rain gauge should be placed on a flat level surface with the opening pointing upwards.

To prevent false rainfall readings caused by water splashes, do not choose a location that is not level or that is too close to the ground, a swimming pool, lawn sprinklers, or anywhere water might accumulate or run off.If possible the rain gauge should be placed sheltered from the wind in all directions. The height of a shelter from the wind such as trees etc. should be in the same height in all directions. The rain gauge should be placed 2 times the height of trees away from the trees. Because if the rain gauge is too near the trees water drops from the trees can be collected in the rain gauge and give a faulty measuring. Furthermore, leaves and dirt from the trees can jam the rain gauge. On the other hand, if you have not got any shelter from the wind then it is possible for the rain gauge itself to cause turbulence and increase the wind speed around the rain gauge, which makes the wind carry even more rain drops into the opening of the rain gauge. The rain gauge should be placed 5, 91 inches above a surface of grass. Avoid a hard surface because the rain drops hitting the hard surface next to the rain gauge can jump into the rain gauge.

My windmill for W155 does not connect or falls out of connecting from time to time, why?

Make sure the batteries are new and installed correctly.

Batteries first in the monitor and then in the windmill.

Be aware of interference from TV, mobile phones, other weather stations etc, because it can weaken the signal between the monitor and the windmill.

Make sure the distance between the monitor and the windmill is not too large and no major obstacles such as trees or thick walls are in the way. Shortening the distance can help.

If that still does not help take the windmill inside to the monitor. Remove all batteries from the windmill and the display. Wait for 10 minutes before re-installing the batteries. When the signal to the windmill is found and it counts windspeed please located the windmill outside again. If no signal please try this procedure several times.

My windmill for W155 shows too low/too high wind speed compared to official metrological measurements, why?

A windmill shows the wind speed in the exact local area where it is placed, with the source of errors there must be for this location. The metrological standard height for wind instruments is 32, 81 feet above the ground. The ideal horizontal distance a windmill should be placed in the matter of trees, houses etc. is 10 times the height of the tree or house. If a house is 22,97 feet tall, the windmill should then be placed 229, 66 feet from the house to avoid influence from the local air current around the house. In practice this can be hard to fulfill. Therefore you must be aware that big differences in the wind speed between official metrological measurements and your own private weather station can occur.

My windmill for W155, where the outdoor temperature sensor is, shows too high outdoor temperature, why?

The metrological standard height for air temperature measurement is 6, 56 feet above the ground. The air temperature can increase a lot if your instruments are higher than the standard. Therefore it is important, that when comparing two weather stations or a weather station and an official measurement that they are placed at the exact same height and under the exact same conditions. This kind of weather station is constructed to contain a lot of information in each sensor to avoid interference. That is why the windmill also measures the air temperature. The windmill is often installed on the roof of a house to increase the accuracy of the other measurements from the windmill. This can cause a difference in the measurement of the air temperature compared to the metrological standard height and because the windmill is often in the sun on the roof of the house.

All electronic weather stations are calibrated after the following procedure: A very accurate thermometer gives you a temperature X. From this given temperature X all weather stations are tested and an inaccuracy of + - 2 degrees Celsius is accepted. That is why two weather stations can both be right even though there is a difference of 4 degrees Celsius between them. If one weather station is accepted with minus 2 degrees Celsius and another weather station is accepted with plus 2 degrees Celsius, you have the 4 degrees Celsius difference.

My indoor temperature in the monitor for W155 shows too low/too high compared to another weather station or thermometer I have, why?

That is why two weather stations can both be right even though there is a difference of 4 degrees Celsius between them. If one weather station is accepted with minus 2 degrees Celsius and another weather station is accepted with plus 2 degrees Celsius, you have the 4 degrees Celsius difference.

To compare two thermometers you must accept a difference of 4 degrees Celsius and they have to be located in the exact same spot under the same conditions.

My monitor for W155 cannot find the radio signal for the clock from Frankfurt, why?

On the back of the monitor you can search for the clock by pressing the number four button from your left. Repeat this several times for some days. If you cannot find the signal, you have to set your clock manually, because the radio signal is not available in your local area
